Ted Williams - Classical Guitarist
Ted Williams is an American classical guitarist. He makes his home in eastern Pennsylvania. For many years Ted has maintained an active career as a guitarist and teacher. He has CD releases, both as a soloist and with his wife Sarajane, a harpist.
Born and raised in Pennsylvania, Williams grew up in a musical home listening to his father play the guitar from an early age. Ted's first experience on stage was in folk music groups, and later he performed in jazz ensembles playing at Pocono Mountain resorts. He also worked as a studio guitarist for Fred Waring's Shawnee Press.
Williams gave his classical guitar recital debut at the age of 19. He has appeared on the concert stage in New York and Philadelphia, both as a soloist and with chamber orchestras. He also gave performances at Bethlehem, PA's Musikfest, East Stroudsburg University, Moravian University, Penn State University, Temple University, Jefferson University, Muhlenberg College, Northampton Community College, Philadelphia College of Performing Arts, Philadelphia Civic Center, Bethlehem Classical Guitar Society, New York City Classical Guitar Society and Philadelphia Classical Guitar Society.
Ted also performs with his wife Sarajane, a harpist, in the Williams Duo. Sarajane and Ted have appeared together at Bethlehem, PA's Musikfest, Delaware Water Gap COTA Festival, Pennsylvania Governor's Residence, Pearl Buck Estate, United States Court House, Business Council of the United Nations and WPVI TV 6.

Williams' first teachers were Jim Mondillo and Paul Schocker in Easton, PA. Later studies in New York were with Alice Artzt, Albert Valdez-Blain, Leonoid Bolotine, and Bunyan Webb. Ted also studied with Peter Segal at the Philadelphia Musical Academy.
Ted has been teaching for more than fifty years, from young children through applied guitar majors at the university level. His students have gone on to become professional guitarists and have won important competitions. Williams is a former executive board member of the New York City Classical Guitar Society, and has served on the faculties of Lafayette College, Moravian University, Muhlenberg College and Temple University Boyer College of Music. He presently teaches at his private studio in Macungie, PA.
